The Beard's 2023 Week Two Power Rankings

September 19, 2023

"It f---ing hurts. That's our brother, that's my brother and it's a blow for the whole team."

- Myles Garrett on Nick Chubb's season ending injury

Welcome back KFFL,

What a wild start to the season. After Week 2, we've got some evolving clarity within the greatest fantasy league in the world. This stuff can't be written - Powell seems to be relishing the new look as he cruises to the top spot, while injuries are clearly the second leading storyline, just ask Jake. Some of you may not be pleased with your ranking, but I firmly stand behind your current placement based on current, past and future outlook. The playoffs will definitely have a different flavour this year, but even the bottom two squads, Cody and Loudon, are not even close to being out of it.

Week Three brings some interesting matchups along the KFFL schedule, starting with Jake and Reynolds squaring off for one of the top spots on the table. Also, Dorian and Loudon both look to get off the snide, in what could spell doom for one team moving forward (can someone smell the firesale?).

Read on for all the glorious rankings you've come to expect:

Tua Infinity and Bijan

FantasyPros Playoffs: 89%

Powell has started the season 2-0 and looks to have one of the more deep and dominant squads in the league. What a turnaround. This team hasn't instilled fear in many to this point in Cody's league stay, but that's all history now. Powell's bench would've beat half the league in Week 2, just for reference. Bijan hasn't even got rolling and the depth options provide insulation against dreaded injuries taking away momentum. A cake walk it may not be, but the battle of the Cody's this week will certainly be something he's chomping at the bit for to reach 3-0.

Jake and I were literally discussing his RB depth prior to Week 2, and oh boy does that not seem super relevant now. Nick Chubb is lost for the season but with the aforementioned depth, Jake should continue to hum. Narrowly pulling out the victory is what champions due, as they don't count how but how many when the hardware is handed out. QB flip flopping is never fun, so choosing between Lawrence with his Avatar neck and Dak's delorian should be something to watch moving forward.

My team seems to be smoldering and was on the verge of 0-2 until the MNF action finished. That's to say that being 1-1 with the QB disappearing act from Burrow and the lackluster output from the young kids, is something to behold. I'm hoping to be a second half nightmare for anyone counting me out. Trade time is almost here boys, keep The Commish' in mind when putting those assets out to pasture.

Born to Khalil

Reynolds has more barrels to fire than Donkey Kong, on a weekly basis. Some of the most attractive pieces litter his bench including Drake, LaPorta and Dalvin. His ceiling is yet to be determined, but this week will provide the opportunity we all yearn for - compete against the best to separate from the rest. He makes the playoffs greater than 1 in 2 times and I think this number only improves from here.

Koo Kicks Klan

JV just doesn't care. About what you think or say. About the age of his assets. About his delusions of grandeur. The only thing Vanilla Valdez cares about is 36 Chambers of fantasy fire being sprayed at the KFFL in his attempt for a B2B title run. He's started 2023 extremely well, and with the 144 point output in Week 2, we could all take notes while he takes tokes of the marijuana smoke. Let's hope the wheels of his aged fantasy wagon don't start to show the wrinkles that we all know rest under the surface.

FantasyPros Playoffs: 48%

A narrow loss in Week 2 wasn't enough to throw off the playoff percentage for Mitchie. His team is nothing short of agressive, however with Saquon sitting for a few weeks with the ankle, it'll be interesting to see how he pivots to continue his quest for his first title. Having Jerome Ford on his team is such a gift, I can't see there being much of a drop off. Where's all the Edward whispers now people?

Hanging with Mr. Kupper

This Week 7

FantasyPros Playoffs: 53%

Evan had a setback in Week 2 behind a few injuries and underwhelming performances from his starters. It's not something I would be super concerned about, but Ayiuk, Waffle and Etienne are all iffy moving forward. There's a few nice pieces on the bench, and when Kupp returns, that's like a blockbuster trade boost in and of itself. The mystery surrounding our newest owner is intrigue enough for me not to take him for an easy win. Keep your head on a swivel fellas.

Craig can never, ever be taken lightly. After a sub par draft, due to going all in for the 2022 title, he's been one of the more active owners on the waiver. Do me a favour, go check his roster. This is one of the more stacked squads with options across the board. And rumour has it, Jalen Hurts may be on the block people...

The Chase

Rosey had a solid week. He lost, but he had an above average point output. Seeing the way Cinci has struggled has held back one of his best players, and that would hurt any of us. I'm not sure if 2023 is his year, but unless some of you can get your points over 100 consistently, Rosey is no doubt going to start saving scalps for his office wall.

Adams Family

Dorian had the win this week against Cody if he wasn't pouring drinks into my throat at Dyl's wedding, while starting Aaron Jones. That's the talent of the 2011 owner though, being able recover from something as atrocious as giving my brother the win. After reviewing his bench, there's very little to be worried about in the short term, and big picture you all know his Rounds 1 to 5 are on the block for a major splash. Don't count out the inaugural champion just yet.

Moore Money Moore Problems

Last Week 11

This Week 11

FantasyPros Playoffs: 19%

Loudon is in trouble. Richardson looked unreal until he went for a nap. JT is napping. Beckham is napping. Kyle Pitts lives in a nap. It's not that he can't come back from the soft start, but unless some luck breaks his way, this could be a tank for 2024 type of year.

Puka Nukem

Last Week 12

This Week 12

FantasyPros Playoffs: 15%

Cody is the complete opposite of Loudon. He's got a potential league winner in Puka. He's pivoted QB options decently. I'm not sure his ceiling is where it needs to be to compete with Jake and Powell, but a battle of the Cody's this week is here none the less. Rumour has it Keenan Allen is on the block for an aspiring title contender. Bonne Chance.

In closing, Week 3 is going to be a banger and should provide some clarity in the KFFL. I'm looking forward to measuring fantasy dicks with Rosey and hopefully getting over the .500 mark.

Enjoy the week gents.

Signed,

Andrew J. Wilson
